Can I use my regular SIM and an eSIM at the same time?
Yes, on any dual-SIM phone that supports eSIM. The physical SIM stays in the tray and keeps calls and SMS on your usual number, while the eSIM carries your mobile data.
The setup that saves you money
Two lines active, one job each:
- Physical SIM — active for calls and SMS, cellular data off.
- eSIM — line used for cellular data, data roaming on.
The point of switching data off on your home line is not tidiness. It is the one setting that stops your home operator from charging you data roaming while the eSIM does the work. Leaving it on means both lines can pull data, and only one of them is prepaid.
Where the settings are
iPhone — Settings › Cellular. Under Cellular Data, select the eSIM line. Then open your home line and switch Turn On This Line to keep it for calls, with Cellular Data not assigned to it. Turn on Data Roaming for the eSIM line only.
Android — Settings › Network & internet › SIMs. Choose the eSIM under Mobile data, keep your physical SIM under Calls and SMS, and enable roaming on the eSIM line.

Does your phone support it?
